Beamed two-bedroom apartment near Place des Vosges
Le Marais, Paris
By ·Sofia Moreau

Le Marais is a historic, pedestrian-friendly district of 17th-century mansions, galleries and boutiques on the Right Bank. It commands some of the highest prices per square metre in the city.
Narrow medieval streets, Place des Vosges, art galleries and a lively food and fashion scene give the Marais a distinctive look. Apartments are usually in older stone buildings, with exposed beams and small floor plates.
Metro lines 1, 8 and 11 serve the area, and many residents walk to the Louvre, the Pompidou Centre and Notre-Dame in 15 minutes. Bikes and the Vélib’ scheme are the main wheels.
In 2026 the median sale price is about €890K, roughly €12,500 per square metre, and a typical 2-bedroom rental costs about €2,900 a month. Prices are down 1.2% on a year ago and homes take around 70 days to sell, which points to strong demand.
Weekend crowds and nightlife can be loud, particularly around Rue Vieille du Temple. Many buildings are listed, which limits renovation, and lifts and parking are rare.
