Brera apartment on a cobbled street
Brera, Milan
By ·Giulia Romano

Milan is Italy’s financial and fashion capital, with the country’s strongest rental market and a steady flow of international buyers. Prices are well above the national average.
Rationalist apartment blocks, the Duomo and canal-side Navigli sit in a compact urban core, with new skyscraper districts around Porta Nuova. Brera and Porta Venezia are known for their dining and design shops.
Four metro lines, trams and an extensive rail network make the city easy to navigate, and Malpensa and Linate airports serve different parts of the city. Driving into the centre requires an Area C pass.
In 2026 the median sale price is about €520K, roughly €5,900 per square metre, and a typical 2-bedroom rental costs about €1,900 a month. Prices are up 3.2% on a year ago and homes take around 70 days to sell, which points to strong demand.
Condominium fees (spese condominiali) can be high, and buyers should check the energy class and cadastral data. Winter fog and summer humidity are part of life.
