Annex Commons one-bedroom with a balcony
The Annex, Toronto
By ·Elena Novak

The Annex is a historic, university-adjacent Toronto neighbourhood of large Victorian and Edwardian homes, cafes and bookshops. It combines a bohemian feel with a short subway ride to downtown.
Red-brick Victorian mansions, tree-lined streets and bay-and-gable houses sit near the University of Toronto and Bloor Street’s shops. Honest Ed’s legacy and the Bloor Street cultural strip give it a lively edge.
Spadina and Bathurst stations on Line 2 and the St. George interchange put downtown within 15 minutes. Cycling lanes on Harbord and Bloor are well used.
In 2026 the median sale price is about CA$1.55M, roughly CA$11,500 per square metre, and a typical 2-bedroom rental costs about CA$3,500 a month. Prices are up 0.5% on a year ago and homes take around 28 days to sell, which points to strong demand.
Student rentals and some large old houses mean variable condition, so inspect carefully. Parking is permit-only on most streets.
