Tagus Riverside Residences, two-bedroom apartment
Lisbon
By ·Rafael Costa

Lisbon is Portugal’s hilly, sunlit capital on the Tagus, attracting remote workers, retirees and investors. Prices have risen quickly, but remain below many other Western European capitals.
Tiled facades, pastel buildings and yellow trams climb the seven hills, with the river and the Atlantic coast close by. Neighbourhoods like Alfama, Chiado and Príncipe Real are historic, while Parque das Nações is modern and flat.
Four metro lines, trams, buses and suburban trains cover the city, and the airport is only about 20 minutes from the centre. Hills and cobbles make walking tiring in the old districts.
In 2026 the median sale price is about €480K, roughly €5,400 per square metre, and a typical 2-bedroom rental costs about €1,700 a month. Prices are up 7% on a year ago and homes take around 62 days to sell, which points to strong demand.
Buying involves a promessa de compra e venda, followed by the escritura, and a licence number for any short-term rental. Many older buildings have no lift or modern insulation, and summer heat is real.
