Converted warehouse loft with 14-foot ceilings
Brooklyn, New York
By ·Marcus Bell

Brooklyn is New York’s most populous borough, famous for brownstone streets, waterfront parks and a creative, food-driven culture. It offers more space than Manhattan, with direct subway links to the city’s job centres.
Brownstones, pre-war walk-ups and converted factories sit alongside new waterfront towers, with Prospect Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park as the borough’s great outdoor rooms. Each neighbourhood has its own commercial strip, from Smith Street to Bedford Avenue.
More than a dozen subway lines reach Manhattan in 15 to 40 minutes, and the East River ferry serves the waterfront. Cycling over the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges is popular.
In 2026 the median sale price is about $850K, roughly $10,400 per square metre, and a typical 2-bedroom rental costs about $4,200 a month. Prices are up 4% on a year ago and homes take around 55 days to sell, which points to strong demand.
Prices vary dramatically by neighbourhood and by distance to the subway. Brownstones need maintenance budgets, and condo and co-op rules differ from building to building.
